Ilaveezhapoonchira: 37 km via Moolamattam and Kanjar and same distance via Erattupettah and Melukavu. A mountain top 2000 ft above MSL Ilaveezhapoonchira is is one of Idukki district's pride of place for tourists. Though Idukki District Tourism Promotion Council has built two concrete cottages and a bamboo cottage, the trek to the top is arduous even by a four wheel jeep. But once you are there, it is most exhilarating to have a look around the dizzy heights shrouded in mist. It also overlooks the tail water of Idukki hydel station forming a serpentine bluish lake driving towards yet another power station at Malankara. The name of the place means leafless blooming lake.
