KURISUMALA - 3 km. On the easternmost border of Kottayam district, Kurisumala has been a centre of pilgrimage for the Christians for years. The centenary of the pilgrimage to Kurisumala, called the Malayattoor of the East was celebrated in 2004. It was a cross hoisted atop the Nadunokkan hill that grew into the present popular centre of worship. The Bishop of Pala assigned St Sebastian’s Church of Vagamon to be in charge of the pilgrimage.
